Connecting to Stripe
Once you’ve created your club and have been approved to use Payzip, you’ll need to connect your club to Stripe. Again, this is simple process which should take no longer than a few minutes.
Because Payzip allows you to take online card payments, you'll need to verify your identity. In addition to some basic personal and club information, you’ll need the following on-hand:
- The club sort code and account number;
- Photo ID (e.g. passport or driving licence); and
- Proof of address (e.g. recent utility bill or bank letter).
There are 7 steps to complete
- Enter mobile & email address
- Mobile verification
- Tell us about your business
- ID verification
- Proof of address document
- Payout details
- Review your details
To get started, click Connect to Stripe
in the banner at the top of the page.
Next, you’ll see an important message about which Type of entity
to choose when going through the Stripe process.
You must choose Individual / Sole Trader, unless your organisation is registered at Companies House, in which case you can choose Company.
To Stripe, Nonprofit Organization means large, established charities like Comic Relief, Oxfam etc.
When you have read the message, click Continue
to be redirected to Stripe’s onboarding flow.
Step 1. Enter mobile & email address
The first thing you need to do is enter your mobile number and email address and click Next
.
Step 2. Mobile verification
Stripe will send you a verification code via SMS. You will need to enter it on the next screen in order to proceed.
Step 3. Tell us about your business
You must select United Kingdom as "Country" and Individual / Sole Trader as "Type of business" unless your organisation is registered at Companies House, in which case you can choose Company.
Step 4. ID verification
On this screen you will need to upload a government-issued ID which would usually be your driving licence or passport.
When you have uploaded your ID, click Next
.
You can click Skip for now but you will need to come back and upload your ID before you can use Payzip.
Step 5. Proof of address document
Next, you need to upload a proof of address document. This is usually a recent utility bill.
Select the type of document you are uploading and click Continue to upload
.
You can click Skip for now but you will need to come back and upload your proof of address document before you can use Payzip.
Step 6. Payout details
Next you need to tell Stripe where you’d like to receive your payouts. You must select GBP - British Pound as the "Currency" and United Kingdom as the "Country of bank account".
Enter your sort code and account number and click Save
.
Step 7. Review your details
Next, check the details you have entered. If you need to change anything, click the Pencil
icon in any of the boxes and update your details.
When you are happy, click Submit
. Stripe will then verify your details and notify us that you have been approved for a Stripe account. This usually happens immediately, although it can sometimes take a few minutes.
